About Us

BC Student Film Festival

There are 2 parts of this festival that students can participate in. First of all, students can submit entries in various categories and age groups. The submissions will be judged by industry professionals and awards will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place films. In addition there are overall age group awards and film crafts awards, as well as best overall student filmmaker. The award-winning films will be screened at the festival itself, and the awards will be presented at the festival.

The second way students can participate is by attending the festival itself — 2 1/2 days of workshops with industry professionals by day, screenings by night, fun activities and meeting other students who share a passion for filmmaking. For teachers, it is an opportunity to network with other media educators, raise the benchmark of work in media arts in their programs, learn more about media arts, generate excitement among their students, and receive recognition for work in their programs – which can assist down the road with funding and support from school districts, administration and their communities.
